Stratego for Warcraft III is based on the board game Stratego by Milton Bradley.
It is a 2 player board game.

Rules Overview:
The objective is to capture your opponent's flag.

Players start by placing all of their pieces on the board. (to do this left click on a piece
and left click on the question mark where you want to place it). Click the center tower when you are ready to start. You must place all of your pieces.

Once the game begins players alternate turns. A player can only move one piece per turn. All pieces can move one space forward, backward or left/right (not diagonally) with a couple of exceptions mentioned below. If one piece moves into a square containing another piece a battle ensues. The piece with the higher number wins. Tie goes to the attacker. Only during a battle are opponents pieces revealed, at all other times only their location, but not value, is known. The 8 squares contain towers are impassible.

Special Pieces:

Scout(2): This piece moves like a castle in chess (as many squares horizontally or vertically as desired). Scouts can attack as part of a multi-square move. Scout also can defuse bombs, thus are the only pieces which defeat bombs.

Captain (6): This piece can move either or two squares. It can also change direction in the middle, effectively moving one space diagonally (however since it can't jump over units a diagonal move say left and forward could be illegal if the square to the left and the one forward is blocked)

Spy: This unit wins all battles against the Marshall (10) but loses to all other pieces. The only way a Marshall can be defeated is either by the use of a spy, bomb, or another Marshall (10).

Bomb: Bomb's cannot move or attacked. If a bomb is attacked both the bomb and the unit that attacked it are removed from the board (with the exception of the Scout (2)).

Flag: The Flag cannot move. Attack opponents flag to win the game.
